In this episode, I interview Travis Phipps, who started an ecommerce business in 2009 and built it to do almost a million dollars in revenue in just 4 years marketing it primarily with PPC. Travis explains exactly how he grew his business using PPC advertising, and how he runs the business from home. Like any entrepreneur, he faced challenges and difficulties along the way, and in our conversation he shares the lessons he learned through overcoming those challenges.

I really enjoyed this weeks podcast! It was really interesting to hear Travis Phipps’ take on PPC and how it really helped his business. I need to get a good handle on the margins on my products before I get into spending for PPC. Great podcast this week!
Hey Jeff, thanks for stopping by to comment! It really is vital to know your margins and your CPA to determine if you can make a profit using PPC. If you do use PPC, it will probably take some trial and error to work your CPA down over time.
First of all…I wanted to thank Leighton for the great interview. That was a lot of fun, and really made me think about my own business. This is a great community Leighton has put together, and I’m glad to be a part of it!
Jeff, I’m glad you enjoyed the episode. As I mentioned, I’m kind of a PPC and Entrepreneurial junkie…so, I am happy to review any AdWords accounts you may have setup, or discuss potential margins and getting a solid CPA target in place. It is an extremely important exercise even if you don’t plan on using Paid Search in your marketing mix.
That goes for any other ecommerce store owners. Just drop me a line at travis.phipps@gmail.com, and mention eCommerce Pulse. Send me some basic information: website, niche, monthly spend (even if it is zero), and any other relevant information. I do some pretty quick analysis, and usually can provide some immediate/actionable results in 20-30 minutes. All free of charge :)…
Thanks again!

Thanks so much for sharing your story, Travis! I really enjoyed hearing about your success and your experiences with PPC. I’m considering trying out some PPC for SurvivalKnifeExperts.com, so I’ll probably be bouncing some questions off of you. :)
